Best Decision Ever to Purchase the Little Giant Pump!Saturday, February 16, 2013
We were hopeful after reading the reviews on this product. This Little Giant has exceeded our expectation!
Has performed all winter, never froze, has been clean once when it warmed up and junk was on the pool cover. Never once turned over. Best decision we made to purchase the Little Giant!
Can't think of one at the moment. The other review, clean the mess off the pool cover and clean out the Giant pump. We have been so happy with this one especially since he made it through a full winter season! Just love the Little Giant!
more bang for your buck!!!Wednesday, January 16, 2013
i've had this pump for a couple of weeks and it has performed as advertised, unlike that white and blue one (i forget the name) that looks like a little tower. it is quiet, fast, and, so far, dependable.
this pump feels very sturdy and has a good weight to it. while unplugged it draws water on the cover to it to the point of submersion. once plugged up, it pumps the water out very quickly.
being a working stiff, of course i would like it to be cheaper but sometimes cheaper means lower quality. if it holds up for 3-5 years i will be totally satisfied.
Great pumpMonday, January 14, 2013
Just hooked up this pump and it worked great. Sucked all of the water out. Much better than others I have owned.
Long cord. Good profile to suck most of the water out. Solid design
At this time nothing that I can see. Time will tell
This thing is the bomb!Friday, January 04, 2013
This pump is exactly what I needed to be able to suck the water off of my pool cover, and I mean fast! We have an 18 x 33 foot above ground, and within 30 minutes had the water from the cover almost completely removed. Yeah, it does need about 2 inches of water for the float to activate, but just by moving the pump to the appropriate spot, water will begin to settle in the new low spot where you just placed the pump, and then it kicks in and just sucks the water off quick! Great device.
All of it!
It would be really cool if there was an aluminum exension rod, similar to like a golf ball retriever, that could be attached to the device to help move it around on the pool cover. Otherwise, you catch yourself using the power cable, and this is not good.
great serviceWednesday, January 02, 2013
Works awesome. No complaints 10 out of 10 stars!
Better PumpThursday, December 20, 2012
I just got the pump and have only used it once but it worked great. This is a much better pool cover pump in quality and function than the previous three Rule pumps I have had – none of which lasted more than a year – very poor quality product.
The quality appears to be superior to the Rule pumps I have used and since it is heavier it sits lower on the cover where it’s placed
little giantTuesday, November 27, 2012
good price and worked great right out of the box, best pool cover pump i have ever owned, had it only a week but worked great in rain last night
size and stability
OK, but...Tuesday, November 20, 2012
clears water quickly, but don't like the fact it sits a couple of inches off the tarp therefore the last few inches of water doesn't get cleared. I was hoping for more...
Great productTuesday, November 20, 2012
Worked better than expected!
That it outperformed a previous competitor pump
Great Little GiantTuesday, November 06, 2012
The Little Giant worked great. Our other pump (Flotec) quit working..would only stay on for 30 seconds at a time and there was tons of water. The Little Giant is the best pump we have ever used. So thankful to have found it. Fast shipping too.
It works...the leaves did not stop it up.
pool cover pumpTuesday, November 06, 2012
Great little pump, works as advertised. Used it when Sandy hit and had no problems, it turned itself on and off.
That it turns itself on and off according to water level.
Needs an override switch.Wednesday, October 24, 2012
I love that it gets rid of the water so fast, however I wish that you could over ride the automatic feature to get rid of the standing water on the pool cover. I dont like that I just have to look at water and leaves get stuck in it.
I love the automatic feature.
Have an override switch so you could bypass the automatic feature.
It Sucks But That Means It Works GoodTuesday, October 16, 2012
I only had this pump a short time. Used it twice and it works very well.
The speed it took the water off the top of the cover. Easy to use just take out the box and place on the cover and plug it in.
Nothing so far that I can see.
recommend little giant pumpTuesday, October 16, 2012
The product seems solid, great base coverage, I've gone through (3) of the Rule brand pump in two years. It was not reliable nor solid like the Little Giant Pump has proven thus far to be.
Wide base, solid construction
I've had it only a month now so at this point in time all is good.
Little Giant PumpTuesday, August 07, 2012
I have only used the product twice so far and both times it worked very well. The first time it cleared standing water off the pool cover and the second was after a light rain where it again cleared the water. It took water off a lot better then the stated 1 1/2 inches. Pump arrived very quickly.
Little Giant seemed a little heavy but not an extreme issue
Great Pump!Wednesday, April 18, 2012
We got this pump in spite of the mixed reviews concerning how much water it leaves on the pool cover. We were very happy to see it in action! The other reviews said it left 1-1 1/2 inches of water on the pool cover, but ours get nearly all the water off! It shuts off by itself and has just been a great little pump all around. We've only had it for a month or two, so the durability is yet to be seen.
Ease of use
Pool Cover PumpTuesday, March 27, 2012
Great pump. Had identical model for 6 years before it quit working.
Little Giant Pump - Excellent!Monday, March 19, 2012
First, I received the pump earlier than expected. Second, I unpacked it, attached a garden hose, dropped it in the water on the pool cover, and plugged it in. Worked flawlessly. Very quiet. The pump did not cut off on it's own. However, that may have been because the pump was not sitting perfectly upright on the cover. I happened to be there when it started sucking air and unplugged it immediately. So the jury is still out on the automatic shut off.
Ease of use
The jury is still out on the automatic shutoff
Automatic Cover PumpMonday, February 27, 2012
I had two Rule pumps that both stopped working. The last one only lasted a year. I decided to try this pump due to the reviews. I've only had it for a few months, but it works great. Seems to be solidly constructed. Only time will tell, but so far so good.
It Rocks!Thursday, February 09, 2012
Great pump, very quiet.
Nothing so far
Swimming Pool PumpTuesday, January 31, 2012
I am very pleased with this product.
Little Giant PumpWednesday, December 28, 2011
The Little Giant Pump has worked good so far and seems to be well built. The only complaint is that it doesn't drain the last puddle of water from the pool cover as low as some others have. But, based on the construction of it, I'm hoping it will out last them.
The sturdy construction
Working As Expected, Better DesignTuesday, December 27, 2011
The day I got this, I put it on the pool cover. For the last several weeks now, it has been working great. I prefer it over the prior Little Giant pool cover pump we had (we have had 2 prior over the last 10 years) as there is no leaf bag to deal with and no breakable, brittle parts. This is also very stable and substantial. I expect it to be a great product.
Pool Cover PumpWednesday, December 21, 2011
I received this pump about two weeks ago and found its initial function to be outstanding. The durability remains to be seen, however, as my experience with other pumps has been disaspointing. The ordering process, delivery, etc. were outstanding as was the price.
Very strong pumping capability
It does leave acouple of inches of water but that is not a problem
The Little Giant Pump APCP-1700 Works GreatWednesday, November 23, 2011
This pool cover pump is just what we needed. This fall we had purchased a "best" quality pool cover. One that we hope will last quite awhile given it's high price. Our original cover pump finally gave out (bad timing) so we decided to invest in a better if not best cover pump. Boy, I tell you we are not disappointed! The automatic feature is the cats and it clears the cover of water completely and faster than our old pump. I would highly recommend this pool cover pump.
Automatic control, clears water well, extra long cord
Works GreatTuesday, November 08, 2011
Made in Italy, seems to work great. Fast delivery, thanks.
Rugged construction, robust float mechanism
Durable PumpTuesday, November 01, 2011
I have had the pump for 2 weeks and it does a great job. Appears to be stout and durable. It is getting the job done!
Works Great So Far!Tuesday, October 25, 2011
I received the product in the timeframe promised a little over a week ago. I put it to work immediately. So far, it's working great!
This seemed to be the best option for me after researching different products and reviews. So far it works as promised and seems to be well put together.
No complaints so far as long as it has a reasonable lifespan which remains to be seen.
Little Giant Big on PerformanceThursday, October 20, 2011
I've only had the pump a week or so, but we've had rain, hail, and torrential downpour since we've gotten it. So far I'm impressed with the little giant and the job it's done. It is heavier than most cover pumps, but that actually allows the water to drain to the pump better, so it does a very good job of getting all of the water off the cover.
The fact that it is water activated and it can sit on the cover to perpetually remove the water is fantastic.
Because of it's weight, it is awkward to get in and out of the pool.
Pump ReviewTuesday, September 27, 2011
Received the product in great time and already have it working. I would order from Drillspot again without hesitation.
Worked like it was supposed to.
Little Giant Pump - A WinnerTuesday, September 13, 2011
Very well built.. This will last a long time. Took three inches of Hurricane Irene off the pool in no time.
Solid. Easy to position on the pool. Good capacity, nice long power cord.
Nothing....close to perfect
Works GreatWednesday, August 24, 2011
Great product. Works great. Quality built and worth the money. Spec says it stops pumping when down to 1.5 inches of water. I tested that feature and it works as advertised. I want to use this pump unattended and I want to make sure the pump won't run when there isn't enough water to cool the pump.
Great Product/ServiceSaturday, June 18, 2011
Love it--works quickly--kids can do it for me! First one did not work--bearings shot. Company replaced it immediately--no issues, no charges.
Ease, quiet, quick
Little Giant Pool pump coverFriday, June 17, 2011
This is my 3rd pool pump cover, the first was a little Giant which was triggered by a magnetic float that stopped working, the 2nd was a Ruhl. The Ruhl electronics stopped working but was reliable for 5 years. The little Giant works as advertised and is a nice weight for stability on the pool cover. My only concern is the small feed holes will get blocked by leaves in the fall. I will probably cover the pump with a plastic screen to keep it from clogging. I am only using it during summer months as we switch to mesh cover for winter. I would be concerned if considering use of this pump for cold climate winter usage because it doesn't remove all the water. I'd recommend this product.
Great Little PumpFriday, June 03, 2011
Only used once to drain whole pool and it did a great job!!
Wish it drained all water out where it will leave about an inch
DecentTuesday, May 31, 2011
Works well and efficiently but does not pump all the water off, leaving a 1 - 2 inch residue of water, which is unsightly.
It could pump ALL the water off the cover.
Great With One Drawback!Thursday, May 26, 2011
This pump is heavy duty and well made. The Auto on/off feature is a convenient one. While the pump removes the water efficiently it stops leaving 1 1/2" of water on the cover. My cover is 40 feet long and still can't open with that much water on it! So I have to use another transfer pump for the remaining standing water. That's a pain in the neck!
Great Product and Great Service from Drillspot!!Friday, May 06, 2011
This Little Giant worked as advertised right out of the box. No issues to date. Deliver services and pricing from drillspot were excellent.
Solid product, well made, dependable. Like the auto on/off feature and the stability of the pump on the pool cover.
PooltimeThursday, May 05, 2011
Actually still waiting for the first rain - but the order and delivery were spot on - arrived in two days.
WowThursday, May 05, 2011
Didn't want to write a review until I used this product for a week to see if it was the real deal. Well believe me it is. The pump arrived and within 20 minutes I was watching it pump the water off my pool cover.
Ease of set-up and pumping power.
A Great Pool Cover PumpWednesday, May 04, 2011
So far, great pump! High flowrate, even while pumping from a couple feet below ground level. Shuts off as expected.
Delivered within a few days, high capacity
It's pretty large, but I guess that goes with the capacity. A little pricey, but as long as it is reliable, I'll consider it worth it
Love It!Monday, May 02, 2011
In the last three years I have bought about 4 pumps. They would work for a very short time and then break. I have only used this pump a few times but I can already tell that this does a much more efficient job! It is much faster and pumps without getting clogged.
Great PumpMonday, May 02, 2011
Great pump for the money. Prompt delivery.
Great Pump For The MoneySaturday, April 30, 2011
The Little Giant is a great pool cover pump for the money. Works extremely well and is also fairly quiet. The only shortcoming I find is that the handle is on the same side the hose attaches to. No place to attach a rope on the opposite side of the hose to more easily position the pump on the cover.
Powerful and quiet
Rope attachment opposite side of hose
Best Pump YetMonday, April 18, 2011
Does what it should. Well constructed compared to other pool cover pumps that I have had.
Nothing ... yet
Not Reliable PumpThursday, April 14, 2011
Product came quick. Does not turn on by itself. Every time it rains, my husband has to go out to pump and shove it around a bit to get it started. It is a pain. And....if it rains when we're not home? Problem.
It does work after we poke and move it around
To have pump go on by itself when there is enough water on pool cover
Great ItemThursday, April 14, 2011
Awesome water pump. All I can say is money well spent, research pays off. Works great, without any problems!
Color, long cord, weight
Little Big MachineWednesday, April 13, 2011
This machine was easy to plug into the hose and outlet, slid it down the pool cover and plugged it in. The cover was drained in less than an hour and there was a lot of water on my cover!! Best machine I have ever bought for the pool!
Easy, quiet and effective!
Great Big Little GiantWednesday, April 13, 2011
Product was delivered in a timely fashion. It operates perfectly and does exactly what it was designed to do. It is a little larger than I thought it would be however, it empties the water on my pool cover very quickly. Much more so than my previous pump. I would tell anyone in the market for a pool cover pump that this is the one they should buy.
Speed and power
Great Big Little GiantTuesday, April 12, 2011
Great product from a name brand I have grown to trust. I already owned other products with the Little Giant brand an all have been as advertised. I would recomment this and other Little Giant products as they are quality built and dependable.
Performed as well or better than advertised
Maybe a handle on the top for easier pool placement
Little GiantThursday, March 31, 2011
This is my third pump in ten years and it works like a charm. I finally found exactly what I needed.
Little GiantThursday, March 31, 2011
Good product, pumps quick. A bit on the heavy side though.
Little Giant Does A Big JobTuesday, March 15, 2011
Very pleased with this pool pump. I've used it for just over a month, and so far it has done a fantastic job of clearing the water from my pool cover. The price was right compared to other internet companies and my typical pool chemical supplier. Shipping was fast. All around happy with this purchase, pleased with Drillspot.com and would recommend to anyone else looking for a pool pump.
That it automatically shuts off when it no longer detects water
Little GiantWednesday, March 09, 2011
Sometimes It doesn't automatically turn on and I have to unplug it for a few minutes. After that it works fine.
Great wide base and easy to use
LG Pool PumpMonday, March 07, 2011
Very prompt shipment/receipt of pump 3 days ago. Worked out of the box very well despite 3 - 4 inches of rain when old pump became a casualty. My spouse was leery of not having two cords emanating from the pump so she kept unplugging it when she saw the cover was drained. We're hopeful of a long relationship. Over the 20 years that we have had a pool, it was rare that a pump (even an expensive one) last a full year. The warranty period is not expressed well. That item needs to be more prominent as well as a better way to express that Drillspot is not responsible for the warranty.
Good weight/balance, one cord, quick removal of water
Warranty, easier access to female connection for hose (better than most pumps, though)
Fantastic Little PumpMonday, January 24, 2011
The best pump we've ever used on the pool cover.
Easy to handle, does a fantastic job of sucking up all the standing water
Little GiantMonday, January 10, 2011
This product is excellent. Removes water from the cover quickly and easily and does not get clogged with leaves. The first pump I received malfunctioned but DrillSpot replaced it immediately (I received it the very next day). Have not had any problems with the replacement and it does a great job removing water from the pool cover.
Removes water quickly
Little Giant ReviewFriday, December 31, 2010
Once the pump starts working it does a good job. For some reason the float won't work auto. I need to manually push it up and pull it back down when all the water is off. Not sure if it is just tight or if something is stopping the water from pushing it up and starting the pump.
Pump works fine when it finally starts
Would like the float switch to work better
Little Giant PumpMonday, December 06, 2010
New to in-ground pools and bought this pump after cover filled after alot of rain and then turned freezing. Had to get the water off. Pump arrived in a matter of days and was easy to use (being a single woman) though it took 4 hours to get water off. I'm impressed so far! Will see what the spring thaw brings, but this sure beats a shop vac!!!
Easy to use, well built
Will let you know!
Great PumpMonday, December 06, 2010
The pump looks awesome. Doesn't appear to be built cheap like many of the other brand pumps I have tried in the past! I guess I'll know in a few more years if this one holds up?
Quality looks great.
Great Little GiantSaturday, December 04, 2010
I have had this Little Giant for just a month and so far it is just a great product. I 'm sure it will last longer than my other pool pump.
It is vere powerful and does a great job
Jury Still Out!Thursday, December 02, 2010
Pump failed after 2 rains. Returned to DrillSpot, they were very courteous and promised me a new one.
It was well constructed relative to others I have used in past. Love the 3 year warranty
One that functions properly
Defective Little Giant APCP-1700Monday, November 29, 2010
I have to shake to pump to get it to work. The auto float must stick. I umpacked it and discarded the box before I put it to work.
It looks good. Just doesn't work.
They could make an auto sensing circuit that works.
Perfect Pool Cover PumpMonday, November 29, 2010
This pump is well made. Hefty and durable. The intake prevents debris from jamming the impeller. I placed it as close to the center of the cover as possible, plugged it in and left it alone to do its job. Well worth the money. I've been through many of the cheaper, flimsy models that clog and burn out or crack from exposer to cold. Buy this pump!
Little Giant Pump DefectiveMonday, November 29, 2010
No matter how deep the water is that this pump is sitting in, you have to take the pool extension pole and shake the pump to make it work. At that point, it comes on and works fine. I just hate having to go out in a heavy rain and shake the pump. I was expecting it to do the job without me being present. I am disappointed and this product is not what I expected for $150.
Well, they could make a fool-proof float that would cut the motor on when the water rises
AwesomeTuesday, November 16, 2010
Pump is great, worked as soon as I plugged it in. Has been draining the old water on the cover since I plugged it in a few days ago.Ridiculously easy to use, just attach the hose and outlet and go. Hopefully this will work for a while. I live in the north east so I will detach it when the weather gets really cold.
Pool Cover PumpMonday, November 15, 2010
Works well and withstands some harsh winter exposure. The first one I purchased is going into the 3rd year and purchased another one as a back up for the day the older one gives out.
GoodSaturday, November 06, 2010
Great so far. Have only had it a month but it has kept the water off the pool cover.
Not BadFriday, November 05, 2010
Bought it in September. So far so good, but it does not turn off by itself.
Works Like A GemThursday, October 28, 2010
This product works great. I have no trouble with it.
Easy to use, drains the water right off the pool cover
Can't get any better
New Pool Cover PumpTuesday, October 26, 2010
New above ground pool with pool cover. This pump does what it is advertised to do. Local pool dealer charges $50 dollars more for the same pump.
Heavier gauge power cord would be better for this product
Pool Cover PumpMonday, October 25, 2010
Automatic, no more plugging & unplugging electric cord
The cord could have been 10 feet longer
Best EverFriday, October 08, 2010
I've had a pool for for 35 years and this is the best cover pump we've ever had. The week after we got it, our area received over 8" of rain in 24 hours. The cover stayed free of water the whole time. Our old pump never could have handled that much water. We are very pleased. At first we were concerned that the pump was too heavy for our cover, but thats not a problem at all. It sits in the middle of the cover and clears off all the water - no need to move it around at all.
Super Job!Wednesday, September 29, 2010
I have had two Rule 1800s in the past three years. I switched to the Little Giant. I ordered the pump and the next day it came. Which was a surprise because I thought shipping would take three days. I put the Little Giant on the cover the day I got it. The next two days we had several heavy rain storms. The pump worked great. I am very happy with the Little Giant that I purchased. The service from Drillspot has was excellent. I am still dealing with Rule to get the warranty replacement pump replaced. So far I have been very unhappy with Rule's service. I would recommend the Little Giant and Drillspot for service and great pricing. What a great combination.
The solid construction of this product
So far nothing
Purchased a Pool Cover PumpWednesday, September 01, 2010
The Little Giant pool cover pump does a good job. I have been very happy with it. The service from DrillSpot was excellent.
Little Giant PumpMonday, August 16, 2010
This pump worked very well to remove surface water from my property. It pumps to within about an inch of the ground and doesn't seem prone to clogging.
It is submersible and turns itself off automatically
I like it as it is
Great Cover PumpThursday, October 22, 2009
I run a pool service company and have used every type of pool cover pump, this one is more reliable than any other I've used.
Works well last a long time
Best Pump We've Ever HadTuesday, May 20, 2008
We had a smaller (1/6 Hp) Little Giant that finally gave out and the design was less sturdy. We ended up getting this one to replace it and could not have been happier!!! It is durable, stable, and efficient.
Fast, Efficient, Easy to Use, Durable, Not easily Clogged with debris
