Best Decision Ever to Purchase the Little Giant Pump!

We were hopeful after reading the reviews on this product. This Little Giant has exceeded our expectation!

more bang for your buck!!!

i've had this pump for a couple of weeks and it has performed as advertised, unlike that white and blue one (i forget the name) that looks like a little tower. it is quiet, fast, and, so far, dependable.

Just hooked up this pump and it worked great. Sucked all of the water out. Much better than others I have owned.

This thing is the bomb!

This pump is exactly what I needed to be able to suck the water off of my pool cover, and I mean fast! We have an 18 x 33 foot above ground, and within 30 minutes had the water from the cover almost completely removed. Yeah, it does need about 2 inches of water for the float to activate, but just by moving the pump to the appropriate spot, water will begin to settle in the new low spot where you just placed the pump, and then it kicks in and just sucks the water off quick! Great device.

Better Pump

I just got the pump and have only used it once but it worked great. This is a much better pool cover pump in quality and function than the previous three Rule pumps I have had – none of which lasted more than a year – very poor quality product.

OK, but...

clears water quickly, but don't like the fact it sits a couple of inches off the tarp therefore the last few inches of water doesn't get cleared. I was hoping for more...

Great Little Giant

The Little Giant worked great. Our other pump (Flotec) quit working..would only stay on for 30 seconds at a time and there was tons of water. The Little Giant is the best pump we have ever used. So thankful to have found it. Fast shipping too.

Great little pump, works as advertised. Used it when Sandy hit and had no problems, it turned itself on and off.

Needs an override switch.

I love that it gets rid of the water so fast, however I wish that you could over ride the automatic feature to get rid of the standing water on the pool cover. I dont like that I just have to look at water and leaves get stuck in it.

recommend little giant pump

The product seems solid, great base coverage, I've gone through (3) of the Rule brand pump in two years. It was not reliable nor solid like the Little Giant Pump has proven thus far to be.

Little Giant Pump

I have only used the product twice so far and both times it worked very well. The first time it cleared standing water off the pool cover and the second was after a light rain where it again cleared the water. It took water off a lot better then the stated 1 1/2 inches. Pump arrived very quickly.

Great Pump!

We got this pump in spite of the mixed reviews concerning how much water it leaves on the pool cover. We were very happy to see it in action! The other reviews said it left 1-1 1/2 inches of water on the pool cover, but ours get nearly all the water off! It shuts off by itself and has just been a great little pump all around. We've only had it for a month or two, so the durability is yet to be seen.

Little Giant Pump - Excellent!

First, I received the pump earlier than expected. Second, I unpacked it, attached a garden hose, dropped it in the water on the pool cover, and plugged it in. Worked flawlessly. Very quiet. The pump did not cut off on it's own. However, that may have been because the pump was not sitting perfectly upright on the cover. I happened to be there when it started sucking air and unplugged it immediately. So the jury is still out on the automatic shut off.

Automatic Cover Pump

I had two Rule pumps that both stopped working. The last one only lasted a year. I decided to try this pump due to the reviews. I've only had it for a few months, but it works great. Seems to be solidly constructed. Only time will tell, but so far so good.

The Little Giant Pump has worked good so far and seems to be well built. The only complaint is that it doesn't drain the last puddle of water from the pool cover as low as some others have. But, based on the construction of it, I'm hoping it will out last them.

Working As Expected, Better Design

The day I got this, I put it on the pool cover. For the last several weeks now, it has been working great. I prefer it over the prior Little Giant pool cover pump we had (we have had 2 prior over the last 10 years) as there is no leaf bag to deal with and no breakable, brittle parts. This is also very stable and substantial. I expect it to be a great product.

I received this pump about two weeks ago and found its initial function to be outstanding. The durability remains to be seen, however, as my experience with other pumps has been disaspointing. The ordering process, delivery, etc. were outstanding as was the price.

The Little Giant Pump APCP-1700 Works Great

This pool cover pump is just what we needed. This fall we had purchased a "best" quality pool cover. One that we hope will last quite awhile given it's high price. Our original cover pump finally gave out (bad timing) so we decided to invest in a better if not best cover pump. Boy, I tell you we are not disappointed! The automatic feature is the cats and it clears the cover of water completely and faster than our old pump. I would highly recommend this pool cover pump.

Little Giant Big on Performance

I've only had the pump a week or so, but we've had rain, hail, and torrential downpour since we've gotten it. So far I'm impressed with the little giant and the job it's done. It is heavier than most cover pumps, but that actually allows the water to drain to the pump better, so it does a very good job of getting all of the water off the cover.

Works Great

Great product. Works great. Quality built and worth the money. Spec says it stops pumping when down to 1.5 inches of water. I tested that feature and it works as advertised. I want to use this pump unattended and I want to make sure the pump won't run when there isn't enough water to cool the pump.

Little Giant Pool pump cover

This is my 3rd pool pump cover, the first was a little Giant which was triggered by a magnetic float that stopped working, the 2nd was a Ruhl. The Ruhl electronics stopped working but was reliable for 5 years. The little Giant works as advertised and is a nice weight for stability on the pool cover. My only concern is the small feed holes will get blocked by leaves in the fall. I will probably cover the pump with a plastic screen to keep it from clogging. I am only using it during summer months as we switch to mesh cover for winter. I would be concerned if considering use of this pump for cold climate winter usage because it doesn't remove all the water. I'd recommend this product.

Works well and efficiently but does not pump all the water off, leaving a 1 - 2 inch residue of water, which is unsightly.

Great With One Drawback!

This pump is heavy duty and well made. The Auto on/off feature is a convenient one. While the pump removes the water efficiently it stops leaving 1 1/2" of water on the cover. My cover is 40 feet long and still can't open with that much water on it! So I have to use another transfer pump for the remaining standing water. That's a pain in the neck!

A Great Pool Cover Pump

So far, great pump! High flowrate, even while pumping from a couple feet below ground level. Shuts off as expected.

Love It!

In the last three years I have bought about 4 pumps. They would work for a very short time and then break. I have only used this pump a few times but I can already tell that this does a much more efficient job! It is much faster and pumps without getting clogged.

Great Pump For The Money

The Little Giant is a great pool cover pump for the money. Works extremely well and is also fairly quiet. The only shortcoming I find is that the handle is on the same side the hose attaches to. No place to attach a rope on the opposite side of the hose to more easily position the pump on the cover.

Not Reliable Pump

Product came quick. Does not turn on by itself. Every time it rains, my husband has to go out to pump and shove it around a bit to get it started. It is a pain. And....if it rains when we're not home? Problem.

Little Big Machine

This machine was easy to plug into the hose and outlet, slid it down the pool cover and plugged it in. The cover was drained in less than an hour and there was a lot of water on my cover!! Best machine I have ever bought for the pool!

Product was delivered in a timely fashion. It operates perfectly and does exactly what it was designed to do. It is a little larger than I thought it would be however, it empties the water on my pool cover very quickly. Much more so than my previous pump. Very prompt shipment/receipt of pump 3 days ago. Worked out of the box very well despite 3 - 4 inches of rain when old pump became a casualty. My spouse was leery of not having two cords emanating from the pump so she kept unplugging it when she saw the cover was drained. We're hopeful of a long relationship. Over the 20 years that we have had a pool, it was rare that a pump (even an expensive one) last a full year. The warranty period is not expressed well. That item needs to be more prominent as well as a better way to express that Drillspot is not responsible for the warranty.

This product is excellent. Removes water from the cover quickly and easily and does not get clogged with leaves. The first pump I received malfunctioned but DrillSpot replaced it immediately (I received it the very next day). Have not had any problems with the replacement and it does a great job removing water from the pool cover.

Once the pump starts working it does a good job. For some reason the float won't work auto. I need to manually push it up and pull it back down when all the water is off. Not sure if it is just tight or if something is stopping the water from pushing it up and starting the pump.

New to in-ground pools and bought this pump after cover filled after alot of rain and then turned freezing. Had to get the water off. Pump arrived in a matter of days and was easy to use (being a single woman) though it took 4 hours to get water off. I'm impressed so far! Will see what the spring thaw brings, but this sure beats a shop vac!!!

I have to shake to pump to get it to work. The auto float must stick. I umpacked it and discarded the box before I put it to work.

Perfect Pool Cover Pump

This pump is well made. Hefty and durable. The intake prevents debris from jamming the impeller. I placed it as close to the center of the cover as possible, plugged it in and left it alone to do its job. Well worth the money. I've been through many of the cheaper, flimsy models that clog and burn out or crack from exposer to cold. Buy this pump!

Little Giant Pump Defective

No matter how deep the water is that this pump is sitting in, you have to take the pool extension pole and shake the pump to make it work. At that point, it comes on and works fine. I just hate having to go out in a heavy rain and shake the pump. I was expecting it to do the job without me being present. I am disappointed and this product is not what I expected for $150.

Pump is great, worked as soon as I plugged it in. Has been draining the old water on the cover since I plugged it in a few days ago.Ridiculously easy to use, just attach the hose and outlet and go. Hopefully this will work for a while. I live in the north east so I will detach it when the weather gets really cold.

Best Ever

I've had a pool for for 35 years and this is the best cover pump we've ever had. The week after we got it, our area received over 8" of rain in 24 hours. The cover stayed free of water the whole time. Our old pump never could have handled that much water. We are very pleased. At first we were concerned that the pump was too heavy for our cover, but thats not a problem at all. It sits in the middle of the cover and clears off all the water - no need to move it around at all.

I have had two Rule 1800s in the past three years. I switched to the Little Giant. I ordered the pump and the next day it came. Which was a surprise because I thought shipping would take three days. I put the Little Giant on the cover the day I got it. The next two days we had several heavy rain storms. The pump worked great. I am very happy with the Little Giant that I purchased. The service from Drillspot has was excellent. I am still dealing with Rule to get the warranty replacement pump replaced. So far I have been very unhappy with Rule's service. I would recommend the Little Giant and Drillspot for service and great pricing. What a great combination.
