My oven control isn't reliable so I really need an oven thermometer to know how hot the termperature is. This one is rated highly.

Oven thermometer is not so hot

Cook's Illustrated loved the Cooper Atkins oven thermometer so I bought two. But, the fine print on the package said these thermometers are only guaranteed plus or minus 25 deg. My two registered 15 deg apart when placed side by side on the rack in my oven. It didn't matter where I placed them (always side by side), they never showed the same temp. So, expect some variability from sample to sample. CI must have received an extraordinary thermometer for their test. The numbers on this thermometer are very small and hard to read when looking through the window on the oven.

I specifically looked for this product after reading a review in Cook's Illustrated, who rated this as their favorite oven thermometer. I recieved my order within a week of placing my order. Packagae arrived in great condition. I've used it already and found out my oven was ~20 degrees off! Yikes!

Good thermometer, great price.

Works just like it should. Things were taking longer to cook than they should have in my oven, and this thermometer confirmed that my thermostat is almost 50 degrees off.

wrong address

Came quickly... but to the wrong address. When I bought it online as a gift, the site automatically decided to ship it to *my* address--it didn't even ask me, just did it automatically during checkout. Annoying because now I have to pay to ship it to the address the website should have asked me for in the first place.

How can you debate

The thermometer reads from 100-600 degrees and indicates my oven is 50 degrees hotter than its setting at 350. I have no way to argue the results and will believe the new thermometer since it seemed to me my oven was running hotter than what I set it to.

I ordered this product on a Saturday afternoon, which is the same as ordering on a Monday, shipping wise. I received the order Tuesday morning! It was in perfect condition and works great. It was also the lowest price on the internet... Drillspot exceeded my expectations in every way.

Right On

Used this thermometer and an identical device that I borrowed to determine the accuracy of my gas oven. As thought the oven was not at the set degrees when indicated by the bell tone. Both thermometers registered 25 degrees under. It took an additional 15 minutes for them to reach the selected temperature and after that time BOTH CA units read the correct degrees for the duration of the cook cycle.

Accurate but hard to read

This oven thermometer seems accurate but is hard to read unless I'm at the right angle, and is impossible to read with the oven door closed. Hopefully it will last longer than my previous Taylor thermometer.

Great Oven Thermometer

I purchased this oven thermometer based on the recommendation of Cook's Illustrated because my baking, which I have always had great succes with, was just not up to my standards. The thermometer came the day before it was scheduled, which was a pleasant surprise. I tried it in my GE Monogram oven, which is just over a year old, and was surprised that it took the oven over 30 minutes to heat to the correct temperature. Thinking the thermometer might be wrong I ordered a CDN Pro Accurate Data Hold Oven Thermometer to determine if the Cooper Atkins thermometer was correct. I found the two thermometers had the same result with temperatures that were within a few degrees of each other. I am very pleased with both thermometers but the Cooper Atkins is easier to use in the oven. I highly recommend this product. Drillspot provided excellent customer service.

Delivery Was Breat, But......

Thermometers were shipped and received promptly. Upon receiving them (I ordered three) I opened them and placed them in my oven. All three had temperature readings 20 to 30 degrees different from each other and none matched the digital thermometer I was using as a comparison. I don't know what everyone is talking about when they say how great and accurate these are.

Don't Buy

I bought this thermometer after reading the positive reviews. My oven over cooks everything if you follow a recipe, but according to this thermometer it is actualy 50 degrees cooler than its set point. There is no way that this is accurate.

Cooks Illustrated Recommendation

Great oven thermometer! My baked items come out far better now. I had no idea my oven was 25 degrees off when the oven indicator chimes to say it's ready, which is actually what I read was typical! It takes 10 extra minutes to heat to the corect temp. Also, when my oven says it is at 350, it is really at 370. It makes a big difference knowing that. I wouldn't be without this gadget! I've looked at other brands in stores and they are itting at 80, 85, or even 90 degrees and it can't be more than 73 degrees in the store! I know this one is super accurate too because when I sit it out on the counter, the temp is right on with my wall thermostat. Excellent product! The price is outstanding on drillspot! Thank you!

Great and affordable purchase. Learned that my oven takes MUCH longer to warm up than what the oven thermometer indicates, but accurately maintains heat levels once desired temperature is actually reached. My only complaint is the numbers are small and hard to read.

Cooper Atkins Oven Thermometer

I had read about these in a cooking magazine. We had recently purchased a new oven and suspected the temperature was off. These were written up as consistently accurate and as having a long life. So far it's all true. We also found the oven was dead on accurate and it was US that needed to adjust to cooking at 7900 feet of altitude.

We bought this thermometer since the digital one on our oven seemed to be running cold. It confirmed our suspicions and now we set the oven temperature by this gauge rather than the oven readout. Cakes and meats cook closer to the suggested times.

Too Small!!

I purchased this item as it had gotten rave reviews from American Test Kitchen. I cannot tell you if it is accurate as it is so small and even harder to see once inside the oven. I could not read it unless I took it out and held it. (HOT of course: be careful) I replaced my Taylor oven thermometer with this one and I truly regret it. That one has a more user friendly big easy to read dial and it also hangs and has a base to sit flat.

Great Buy!!

I purchased this to cross check my oven temperature and it works perfectly!! The price was extremely reasonable and the oven temperature and this thermometer matched perfectly. After reading the other reviews, I was concerned it wouldn't hang properly, but it was not a problem. Like other reviewers, however, I wish the numbers were a little larger. I had to squint and get very close to the oven (which was hot) to read the temperature. Overall, and compared to other oven thermometers, I give this 5 stars!

Ok, But How Accurate?

The thermometer seems to work as reviewed in Cooks Illustrated. I am unsure of its accuracy however. The specs call for +/-25 deg F but Cooks implies that it is better than 10 deg. DrillSpot processed my order promptly.

Just as described in Cooks Illustrated magazine. It is a bit small and harder for elders to read at a distance, but the quality is there. Not available at local hardware and big box stores. Why?

Good Thermometer

I bought this thermometer because it was recommended by Cook's Illustrated. I can't really say much about its accuracy as I have no calibrated standard to compare its readings against. That said, the thermometer indicated that my oven runs about 20 to 25 degrees above its setting, which was about what I expected based on past experience with the oven burning food or cooking it more quickly than expected. The thermometer is relatively compact, which makes it prone to falling over and perhaps hard to read for some. In my oven, the thermometer sits on a baking stone, so I don't really have problems with it falling over. There's really no place to hang the thermometer anywhere in my oven where it would be easily readable, and I can see if you had to place it directly on the rack, it could easily fall over. A larger thermometer might solve these issues, but then again, a larger one would get in the way as well. There's a bit of a delay, perhaps 10 to 15 minutes, between the reading catching up with the oven's temperature. Don't make the mistake of thinking your oven runs cold because it has signaled it reached 400 F but the thermometer still shows 375 F. You need to give it time to reach thermal equilibrium.

The only thing I didn't like about this was the size and therefore how easily it falls over. But the accuracy is spot-on. I saw this recommended by Cooks Illustrated and thought I'd get it. They didn't like how easily it falls over but liked the accuracy.
