After doing a little research I realized that about the only thing that can go wrong with the Intermatic pool timer is the actual time clock motor itself. Buying the motor is a heck of a lot cheaper than buying the complete housing - and I couldn't imagine how much it would have cost to replace the whole thing if I had it done by a pool company! Very easy to replace the clock motor (please be sure to make sure the power is off first!). DrillSpot was great - I think they shipped the same day as the order and had the new part in no time!!!

Straight Forward Process

Turn the power off. Open timer box. Remove the cover plate. Remove 4 screws that hold the mechanism. Buy a #10 Torx(star) screw driver if you don't have one. Take the 2 wires off the terminal board and replace with the new ones. Remove the old timer motor and replace it. In reverse order reassemble the unit.

Replacing a Worn-out Pool-Pump Timer Motor

The timer motor fit perfectly into my old Intermatic pool-pump timer switch and was easy to install. (Just turn the power off at the breaker and then press the spring clips at the top of the terminal board and tip it out for easy access from the back. Unscrew the old motor, whch had worn out and no longer would operate the timer, and insert the new one. Then attach the leads to the terminals. Snap the terminal board back in place and turn on the power. That's it!) It was certainly a lot cheaper to do it myself than to hire a pool equipment serviceman! I don't think it took me more than 15 minutes. And the timer now works perfectly again!

Good direct replacement product. I had a WG1573-5 and ordered the WG1573-10D as a replacement(the -10D is supposed to be a minor factory upgrade). When I installed the product I found that I had received a WG1573-5 even though the box said WG1573-10D. Didn't matter to me because I was replacing a WG1573-5 anyway.
