Monday, February 15, 2010Seems this is a common product for outdoor wood furnace applications. I have a Central Boiler wood burning outdoor furnace and this product regulates air intake baffle on the door of the furnace. Worked great for 5+ years until 40 mph winds packed snow into the furnace door shorting out this device. As manufactured, the solenoid is not water resistant and needs to be protected from the elements. This solenoid is a "pull" device. The weight of the air baffle door closes on it's own. When the furnace requires more oxygen the furnace energizes the solenoid -- pulling the air baffle door open. The solenoid has a 1 inch pull. Drillspot.com price was nearly half of what other sites are selling the product for. So I bought 2, one for backup just incase we have another snow blowing wind storm.

Saturday, October 31, 2009I use this to open the blower on an outdoor furnace, its gets used on average 6-10 times per day. They only last about 6 months and with no warning suddenly just stop working. There has to be a better, longer lasting product. When I find it I'll not be usining this one anymore.
