Wednesday, September 02, 2009This is a replacement for a Broan 350F installed almost 15 years ago on a roof/attic not far from the ocean in Hawaii. When the motor failed recently, it seemed that buying an entire ventilator and using only the motor/blade/thermostat/wiring box assembly (just 1 bolt on each of three mounting struts) was the most efficient and economical solution. Exposure to salty airflow over the years caused noticeable rust on/in the thermostat, motor/shaft and mounting struts. I had painted the fan blade and wire grille to prevent rust when first installed and was glad I did. Also spray-painted the non-metallic hood to match the roof shingles and the paint has held perfectly, with only a single touchup needed for fading since installation. Drillspot.com had a competative starting price, only a couple of dollars more than other online sources and much less than most, but with the free shipping offer (which, surprisingly included Hawaii) it is a hands-down price winner. Hope I can get another of these from Drillspot.com if/when the other original ventilator decides to "die". Order was processed very quickly and shipment arrived faster than I expected.
