Capacitor for Genie Garage Door Opener
Wednesday, May 16, 2012I have a very old (circa 1991) Lift-A-Dor garage door opener (made by Genie) that went a bit nuts. It would open but the motor would not shut off. Even the kill switch would not shut off the motor. Only pulling the plug would shut it down. There were only 2 variables: the cap or the control board. Looking at the old cap (70mfd, 220v) I could see black stuff oozing out of the case. No question which component was bad. Even if the control board was also bad, the cap had to be replaced. Looking around I found the part for more than $20. Then I stumbed across DrillSpot and found essentially the same part for less then $9 including shipping! What a deal. The part arrived in a day. It was the same length as the original (just smaller diameter) and therefore fit into the original mount w/o any modifications. Plugged it in and back in business!

Stanley Garage Door Opener Cap Replacement...
Thursday, December 30, 2010This is the perfect capacitor to replace the one that was in my Stanley chain driven 1/2hp garage door openner. It does a great job of doing what it is supposed to do. A little smaller in diameter than the original, but a little rubber tubing over the capacitor and it fits like a glove. Thanks for a cheap replacement for a part that does go out. Goes out so often at my place, and so hard to find I bought two at this price, because it's a GREAT price.
