Electric Strikes- Electric strikes control access by either holding or releasing a latch bolt. Hard-wire electric strikes connect to a power source and a controller (typically a push-button switch, keypad, or card reader). A fail-safe electric strike needs power to remain locked. A fail-secure electric strike remains locked even without power. Device prevents entry; a doorknob or lever on the lock allows for egress.
