Professional tradesman
Tuesday, November 02, 2010I've been using Contico Tuff-Boxes for over twenty years. Outside of normal wear & tear, they're a good investment & outperform steel containers for the facts that they're impervious to rust/corrosion, dents, dings & scratches. I haven't bought a toolbox in nearly 10 years now & I'm looking to replace some cracked lids (from normal wear&tear use) It is unknown to me as to whether or not there is still a lifetime manufacturers' warranty on this product. I'm looking for a dealer who carries this product in the north-west Chicago-land area that I can get my replacement lids from. The only real modifications that I make to these boxed is on the hasp, as I bolt on an angled padlock eye (Master Lock #60-R)used in conjunction with American Lock Series 7300 padlocks. I presently have fifteen (15)such boxes in use in my inventory. I use them for everything from intermediate security storage of parts & components to tools & metering instruments.
Durability
Internal capacity could be greater along with thicker/heavier construction, (to avoid cracking.) Those boxes holding my hand tools weigh over 100 lbs!!!
Great for sound gear!
Monday, September 20, 2010I use these for sound equipment; small mixers, microphones, cables, positional monitors, etc. and they are great! Much less expensive than dedicated cases for musical gear, and much more durable. Also, the fact that they stack makes them very efficient for space in the equipment trailer or on the cart at gigs.
Very strong and durable; stackable; good size for miscellaneous sound gear.
I don't need the top tray, and the ribs that support it get in the way.
Holds up better than my truck!
Monday, February 15, 2010This is the only tool box that holds up to any thing you can throw at it. I have one that I packet to the gunnels with demo equipment and other steel tools put a master lock on it and sent it through checked baggage at the airport for more than 30 trips and the bagagage handlers could not stop it!!!!! It weight more than 130 pounds loaded. The funny thing is people at bagage claim want to help and I need to be by the chute when it comes out so know one gets in trouble when they try an catch it (ha-ha) or pick it up. And as far as the employees go, they have not damaged one yet and they are more than 10 years old.
it is all good.
none so far
Best of the Best
Monday, December 07, 2009I've had my Tuff Box for ?? years. Normally loaded with much "iron". Very hard to find a box with Tuff Box length - without going huge. Now buying a second box.
Strong - Well Made

Tuff is right
Sunday, June 21, 2009I've used this tool box for 5 years carrying a good amount of weight in it. Then the hinges blew and I installed my own hinges - I got another year out of it and the plastic around the hinges broke. If they strenghen the hinges/support you'll probably get another 5 years. Other than that it is the best tool box out there. Thanks!
The box is very durable and long lasting
The hinges are the only weak spot.
Best box in the business
Thursday, January 15, 2009I had this tool box for 7 years of daily use in new home construction. I sat and stood on it, threw it around and it took all the abuse. Finally , after overlaoding it for too many years, the handle has broken off and I cannot find a replacement. Awesome box. Better than steel!
