- Soil and Mud: Auger bits are powder-coated, heat-treated, sharpened carbon steel with tungsten carbide hard-surfaced edge. 4WFA7 can serve as an ergonomic alternative to a post-hole digger. Open-Face: Design is useful for quick visual profile of soil sample. 10-ga. high-carbon steel is hand-formed with an aggressive cutting head for quicker soil penetration. Cutting head pulls itself into the ground with little effort. Great for combination soils, from mud/clay to hard pan. Extension and cross handle are gold-zinc-plated for added rust resistance. Sand: Designed to prevent sample loss in sands and dry soils.
