Rubbermaid Big Wheel Cart Purchase
Wednesday, September 28, 2011My family members like the cart but were surprised at the $500+ price. The plastic appears to be the same kind you would find with a liquid laundry detergent bottle. We purchased an outdoor wood furnace and we use the cart to move the wood from the barn to the furnace. It seems well suited for this task. The cart only has two wheels. When you lift the handle to move the cart you are tipping it forward. If you tip it forward too much and the cart is too heavily loaded, the contents will dump out. I bought the model that has the steel rims and inflated tires figuring that plastic wheels in the winter could become too brittle from the cold temperature. If rust forms on the inside of the steel rim where it seals with the rubber tire you will have trouble maintaining an airtight seal. You will have to maintain the air pressure and paint the steel rims over time. We received free shipping and the delivery turned out in 24 hours. The cart is for farm use and appears well made and substantial. We are a commercial operation. A homeowner with warm seasonal light use would likely find the plastic wheeled cart a better value. I hope this helps you.
